Storyteller

There are many mediums for telling stories - the auditory, the visual, even touch and smell can tell a story. Memories are stories we remember, and dreams are stories that are just beginning.

  • The visual and auditory medium which shows the story as much as it tells it.

  • Sort or long form, I’ve always planned a journey for the reader where we begin, understand, stumble, then reach the ending.

  • Novels and short stories - I have so many. I see them so clearly, though, that they usually turn into a screen or stage play before I finish them long form.

ELLEN LANE WINBURN

In the darkest of times, in the most joyous moments, they were there…

Hospital alarms create more stress than they could ever alleviate, of that I am certain. My tiny boy jerked in his sleep with every ping and beep and all I wanted was for him to rest - me too. For months, though, every ounce of energy went into simply being there. Only one of us could visit the NICU at a time, so I was alone with the most precious, wonderful, and devastating creature I could have ever imagined simply sitting, staring at the flashing lights, jumping at every alarm.

The comfort of an old friend at times like these is like mana from heaven. My old friends, all those that I’d known, I’d created, since before my own written history piled into the NICU and kept both of us company. I explained to my tiny boy who they were, told the silly or frightening stories, and created new stories in those long, no longer lonely, hours.

Life interrupted as the tiny boy met challenges I never dreamed. Wanting victory for him and the best that life could bring, I asked my friends to wait, please, until I could give them the attention I owed them. When that time finally came, my friends were still there, their experiences all the richer and deeper.

This site contains the best of them, ready to meet the world. I know they will be there for you just as they have been for me.
