FAITH

What powers us as humans, what gives us hope, that which removes regret and endows joy, it’s from there that the most interesting and amazing stories abound.

I am a person of faith. Yes, I was born into it, but I have experienced what is means to be held in the arms of my Lord, carried when all hope seemed lost. I have enjoyed most faith based stories, but often I’m left thinking “this isn’t real - life is messier than this”. I believe it is out of the mess that our faith - whether tried and true or newly found - becomes the rope that appears out of nowhere, dropping from the sky with a loop at the bottom for us to step into, and hold on. It doesn’t feel safe. We can’t see who is pulling us up. The wind shoves us and the rain tries to knock us off. But if we hold on, if we believe the rope is being pulled up and that there is a warm sun and secure platform at the top - we can survive. And maybe, we can be fortunate enough to someday help pull up someone else’s rope.

While every story I tell has an element of faith within it, the ones below are driven by that story of faith. Each of them deals with a hard truth of life that I’ve either experienced personally, or witnessed in those I love, and showing how messy - and beautiful - embracing faith and the strength therein is my mission.
